Dr. Kate Gyselinck

Dr. Kate Gyselinck joined the Ritson Veterinary Team in 2011 after practicing for a year in Toronto.

Dr. Kate (as most of our clients refer to her) decided to enter the veterinary field due to her love of science, medicine and animals.
Although there was a time in high school she was dead set on being a world renowned chef but ultimately her love for medicine/helping animals surpassed her dreams of being a chef.

Dr. Kate attended the University of Guelph for her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences.  While attending U of G she was able to gain significant surgical and anesthetic research experience with summer placements within the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) teaching hospital.
Dr. Kate then completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at OVC and graduated in 2010.

Since day one Dr. Kate has always had a significant interest in soft tissue surgery and anesthesia.  In the past 5 years Dr Kate has developed a great interest in emergency medicine and practices at the local emergency clinic (AEC) part time in addition to her time at RVC.

If you had to ask Dr. Kate what she loves most about her job as a veterinarian she would say – “working with pet owners and pets to provide them with the best possible care while managing their beliefs and financial constraints such that owners never feel pressured into something that doesn’t align with them”.

Fun fact about Dr Kate is she recently moved to a rural property within the Kawartha Lakes area with her husband and 2 children.  She has big dreams of adopting some pigs, goats and chickens as pets to add to their growing pet family of 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 guinea pigs…maybe even get into a little homesteading!
